Central Railway was formed on 5th November 1951 by combining the
Great Indian Peninsula Railway, Nizam State Railway and Scindia/Dholpur
State Railways, consequent upon integration of Indian State Railways
with the Indian Government Railways.
Since
then the Railway network on Central Railway have been constantly
expanding mainly by way of Doubling & New Lines. From its inception
till the year 2002, 1348 kms of New Lines, 2411 kms of Doubling
and 123 kms of Gauge Conversion from Narrow Gauge to Broad Gauge
is added by Construction organisation of Central Railway.
